Test Driving the BMW X6 Super Coupe

After a successful first effort with the X5, BMW re-entered the SUV market with the BMW x6 super coupe . Now, before we begin it is important to note that the X6 is most assuredly not a coupe, it is an SUV. Why the company chose to label it as a coupe is a mystery for the ages.

That said, the car falls flat in several key areas. In fact, some reviewers have even gone so far as to label it an automotive white elephant. And while that might be a bit of an overstatement, it is safe to say that the X6 does not live up to the high standards of its predecessor.

While the basic design remained the same, the X6 has far less cabin space, but somehow still manages to get worse mileage. That's right! The BMW X6 only gets about 17 miles to the gallon, while the X5 gets around 25. Not to mention the fact that is about seven thousand pounds more expensive.

Of course, it is still a BMW, which means it offers a superior driving experience. The steering and handling are said to be a slight improvement over the X5 and the acceleration is impressive. The "coupe" can go from 0-60 mph in just 6.3 seconds!

But in the end, the X6 may be a danger to your wallet. Increased fuel costs and a higher sticker price are difficult to justify seeing as how the car loses out to its predecessor in several key areas.
